Im bringing sexy back....

YAY!! ive got tickets to see Justin Timberlakes FutureSex/LoveSounds tour!!

I know there are those out there who are reading this blog thinking 'so what?' to themselves but cmmmoooonnn Justins proved himself a worthy artist. He can almost even be forgiven for those rediculous curls he was supporting during his days in boy band group N'SYNC and Ive already forgotten bout the time he used to shack it up with that Spears girl. He's goooood!! okayyyy??

He's the example to all those geeky-white-boys out there that if u can tear yerself away from the computer long enough to get some sun, work out.... hmmm.... as well as have a decent enuff singing voice, professional stylists to dress u up, one hell of a PR manager... smoothered with some funky kewl dance moves - you can actually go somewhere!! hahaha
*warning to those attending the event* WEAR FLAT SHOES!!

Meet the parents!

Meeting the parents is the scariest act of passage anyone in a relationship can endure!

Although as *ahem* grown adults you would think that their influence on potential long-term partners would be minimal, you still can't help but want to leave 'a first good impression'. Last sat nite was my chance to shine infront of Eds mum for the very first time. This meeting was especially important to both ed and i coz he grew up in a single parent household and i was more than determine to make the woman who brought up ed and his 3 brothers all by herself love me with every fibre of her being!

As always i was a nervous wreck days leading up to the big night, annoying ed with my constant 'what if she doesnt like meeeeee?' song & dance which he would follow up with the wonderful line that always makes a person feel great 'you have nothing to worry bout babes coz EVERYBODY likes you'. I spendt countless hours finding the perfect outfit and even more time thinking about fabulous conversation pieces, including smart and witty segways. Yup, i felt prepared *pats on the back*

Moments before entering the restaurant ed gave me a hug and told me il do great and suddenly just like in the movies all the nerves dissappeared and i like to say 'i totally KICKED ass!' hahaha There was this looooonnnnngggg period of time i was left alone with her but im happy to report we kept the momentum up by gabbling non-stop about her recent european holiday (which ed had secretly prepped me for) and even at times when there were those awful uncomfortable silences during dinner i powered through, probably giving her the impression that im a complete chatter box, which to be fair isnt entirely untrue hehe

The night ended and i let out a 'pheeeeeww' under my breath, thanking God it was all over and that it went well. She and i aren't the best of friends (yet) but it went much better than i expected and i look forward to our next meeting, though hopefully not as formal.

Words of advice for anyone who is bout to go through the same experience -

  • Dont try too hard to impress, it's completely noticable and you'll kick yourself afterwards.
  • Limit yourself to 1 redbull before the meeting.
  • Do NOT shove yer tongue down your partners throat at anytime during the dinner (NO, i didnt do this!!)
  • Be polite, engaging but more importantly... be yourself! Show them the person their son/daughter fell in love with.
  • um... yeah... just 1 redbull will do!!

ps - i got the job!!

Strugglin artist

A couple of nights ago i dragged my ever-so-loving boyfriend to The Ballroom Gallery which was presenting a much anticipated design event 'Pecha Kucha'. Pecha Kucha originally held in Tokyo, was created by architecht duo Klein Dytham and now spreads over 80 cities worldwide. Its main purpose is to provide an opportunity for young designers to meet, network and show their work to the public.

The key to Pecha Kucha Night is its patented system for avoiding being trapped listening to someone blab on and on. Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each - giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show their work.

The turn out was fantastic and i was quite impressed with the organisers who followed the Japanese theme by serving Japanese beers, sushi and wasabi peas. Ed and i arrived early and found great seats, from where we admired other peoples quirky dress sense and i 'oooooh' and 'aaahhh' (but secretly envied) over the other womens shoes.

For the next couple of hours we heard presentations from architects, visual artists, designers and 1 rather boring photographer talk about their backgrounds, work and aspirations. We ended the night on a high note with me feeling inspired and proud to be part of the design community, also with promises from the organisers of another Pecha Kucha night in October.

However personally the best part was having my patient boyfriend sitting beside me, holding my hand, while listening attentively to "artsy-fartsy-tree-huggin-hippies" go on and on about their passion. Moments like these make me realise how lucky i am. Thanks babes.

Also.. lately Ive been aggressively hunting for a job. Ive heard of people who go weeks and weeks of sending applications, attending numerous interviews (both face to face & over the phone) with out much luck and was worried that i might be destined to follow in their footsteps. Fortunately i got a couple of hits within the first week and now im on to 2nd interviews *crossed fingers* and will hopefully be employed within the next 7days or so. There is one i really, really, really want and one i will settle for... soooo im sure to be a crazy mess for the next couple of days.

Prayers & donations are most welcomed.
